Improving the lives of those who live in vulnerable communities
About Us
Our Vision
We envision a world where vulnerable communities no longer struggle for the essentials of life but instead have the foundation to grow and thrive. By providing clean water through well-building projects, strengthening food security with supply drives, and offering financial and material aid, Root of Resilience seeks to break cycles of hardship and create lasting opportunities. Our vision is to nurture resilience across generations and borders, so that every community has the resources, dignity, and stability to shape its own future.
About Me
Ivan Hua - Founder
My name is Ivan Hua, and I am currently in 12th grade at Huntington Beach High School, located in California. I founded Root of Resilience when I was 17 years old, with a vision to improve the lives of vulnerable communities around the world. I’ve always looked for ways to support communities beyond my own, which led me to become a member of Sunflower Mission, helping raise funds to build schools in rural Vietnam; serve as President of Feed to Succeed, organizing food drives that provided meals to families in underdeveloped villages across Central America; and launching HuaMasks4Heroes project during the COVID-19 pandemic, donating over 500 handmade masks to schools, hospitals, and community centers.
Driven by a passion for service and innovation, I’ve led Root of Resilience projects ranging from drilling wells in Vietnam to organizing supply drives that support families in need. I believe that lasting change begins with small, practical actions—whether it’s expanding access to clean water, strengthening food security, or providing financial support. Beyond my nonprofit work, I’m a student, athlete, and mentor who hopes to continue building solutions that empower others and create sustainable impact.
